What you'll cover
The Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is a CITB-accredited course designed for individuals who currently hold, or are about to take on, supervisory responsibilities within the construction industry. It provides essential knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk management, and site supervision practices.
This course is suitable for site supervisors, team leaders, forepersons, first-line managers, and individuals preparing to move into supervisory roles on construction sites.
Learners will cover
- Health & Safety Legislation — Health and Safety at Work Act, construction health and safety regulations, understanding legal responsibilities as a supervisor
- Risk Management — risk assessments, method statements, hazard identification and control measures
- Effective Supervision — monitoring site activities, managing safe systems of work, promoting a positive safety culture
- Communication & Leadership — site inductions, toolbox talks, method statement briefings, effective intervention and incident prevention
- Occupational Health & Environmental Awareness — occupational health considerations, environmental responsibilities, behavioural safety principles
How it's delivered
Classroom-based course delivered over 2 days with continuous assessment and a multiple-choice examination.
Outcome
Includes continuous assessment and a multiple-choice examination. Successful delegates receive a CITB Site Safety Plus SSSTS Certificate, valid for 5 years and renewable by completing the SSSTS Refresher (SSSTS-R) course before expiry.
