The Use of Safety Harness course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely inspect, fit, adjust, and use safety harness equipment when working at height. The course helps reduce the risk of falls and ensures compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
This course is suitable for construction workers, scaffolders, roofers, maintenance personnel, engineers and technicians, utility workers, and anyone required to wear a safety harness while working at height.
Learners will cover
- Working at Height Awareness — hazards associated with working at height, legal responsibilities of employers and employees, risk assessment and safe systems of work
- Harness Components — types of safety harnesses, lanyards and connectors, anchor points, fall arrest and restraint systems
- Pre-Use Inspection — identifying defects and damage, inspection procedures, recording inspections, equipment maintenance and storage
- Correct Use of Equipment — fitting and adjusting a safety harness, selecting suitable anchor points, safe attachment methods, preventing misuse of equipment
- Fall Protection Systems — fall arrest systems, work restraint systems, positioning systems, limitations of harness equipment
- Emergency Procedures — suspension trauma awareness, rescue planning, emergency response procedures, accident reporting
